Are you interested in computers and healthcare?

The health information management (HIM) field can place you right where the expanding arena of healthcare meets the cutting edge of technology. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the field of computer and information systems managers that includes professions in health information technology (HIT) and technology management are forecast to grow faster than the average of all occupations through the year 2014.

As an HIM professional, you will be the expert on patient data that doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff use to perform their jobs. Many employment opportunities exist for HIM professionals in a variety of work settings. Traditionally, HIM professionals are employed in hospitals or
clinics, but an increasing number of jobs exist in settings such as health maintenance organizations, physician offices, consulting firms, and with information system vendors.

For more information about the HIM profession, salaries,
and schools in Wisconsin, check out the "links" above.
