Education
The opportunity for education and career advancement is prevalent in the health information management (HIM) profession. The links on this page give you information about the HIM Programs in Wisconsin and Minnesota ranging from technical diplomas to graduate (master's) degrees. Many colleges and universities offer both traditional on-campus programs and distance education options such as online learning. The sky's the limit when you climb the HIM education and career ladder!
You can also search for programs nationwide by program level, institution name, state, or distance learning programs by going to the AHIMA website at: http://www.ahima.org/careers/college_search/

Upon completion of an education program, you will need to successfully complete a certification examination. Some of the HIM credentials include certified coding specialist (CCS), registered health information technician (RHIT), registered health information administrator (RHIA), and Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS).
