WHIMA is pleased to recognize Alison O’Leary, MBA, RHIA, as the recipient of the 2026 Spirit of WHIMA Award, presented during the WHIMA Annual Conference on May 12, 2026, in Wisconsin Dells.

The Spirit of WHIMA Award recognizes individuals who work behind the scenes to coordinate, support, and accomplish projects that strengthen our association. Alison truly embodies the spirit of this award through her unwavering dedication to WHIMA, her positive attitude, and her commitment to serving the health information profession. As co-lead of the Professional Development Team and a member of the Networking Event Team, she consistently contributes creative ideas, fosters collaboration, and helps advance WHIMA’s mission. Her colleagues describe her as a thoughtful leader who leads by example with professionalism, integrity, compassion, and a genuine desire to support others. Her behind-the-scenes efforts have strengthened member engagement, supported professional development opportunities, and contributed to initiatives that benefit both members and students.

Those who nominated Alison highlighted her ability to inspire others, encourage volunteerism, build strong relationships, and bring optimism and innovation to every project. Whether mentoring colleagues, coordinating events, or helping teams achieve their goals, Alison’s contributions exemplify the qualities the Spirit of WHIMA Award was created to honor.
