Hours: Start time is flexible between 7:00 am and 8:00 am. After training is complete, there is an option to work from home. Must be available to travel locally for monthly meetings.
The Team Lead, Coder – Inpatient will have extensive knowledge in the coding assignment of ICD -10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for each inpatient visit type, diagnosis and medical procedure performed; requiring knowledge of disease process to assure the proper code is assigned. Assigns codes related to the procedure or treatment performed utilizing classification systems software based on one of several hundred “diagnosis-related groups,” or DRG.
The Team Lead, Coder – Inpatient will code, monitor coding staff workflow, evaluates the work of other coding staff, and develops and conducts staff training as necessary. The Team Lead will need to be able to evaluate records and prepares reports on documentation or coding issues, for review by management. Makes recommendations for changes in policies and procedures, guidelines and training programs related to coding. Will need to attend monthly meetings with coders and CDI team.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Additional education in medical coding preferred.
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required.
- At least 2 years of related ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS inpatient coding experience required.
- Team lead and/or training experience preferred.
