Wisconsin Medical Coders Day

Medical Coders are vitally important for patient care and safety but often do not get the recognition they deserve.

At Waukesha County Technical College, (WCTC) the Health Information Student Club (HISC) has taken the lead to ensure that Medical Coders throughout the state of Wisconsin are recognized for all their hard work. Medical Coders tell the story of the patient by coding diagnoses, treatments, and procedures, quickly and accurately all while helping to control healthcare costs for the patient and also improve revenue for their facility.

Because of the work that Medical Coders do to support healthcare providers and their patients, the WCTC Student Club has asked that October 3rd be recognized as Medical Coders Day.  We are delighted that our request was answered as Governor Evers has officially proclaimed October 3rd, 2022 Medical Coders Day.

Congratulations Medical Coders!  Thank you for all that you do and do so well!

All the Best!
