Congratulations to Tyler Barkeim, RHIT, CCDS-O – one of WHIMA’s 2023 Spirit of WHIMA Award recipients!
Tyler was recognized for this award at the WHIMA Annual Conference in Wisconsin Dells! This award aims to identify and honor individuals who work behind the scenes to help coordinate, support or accomplish projects. Though these quiet individuals may not lead a work team, their hardworking efforts are key to a project’s success.
Tyler is always willing to help where needed. He served for two years as a Co-Lead for the Annual Conference Team, securing speakers and being willing to learn and do new things. In 2023, WHIMA had an opening for the Exhibitor Liaison. Tyler not knowing what the job consisted of, volunteered to fill that role at the Annual Conference. The liaison must be outgoing, congenial, friendly, organized, and have the ability to adapt to change. Tyler was the right fit! He makes everyone feel welcome and will do whatever he can to complete a successful project no matter how large or small. His personal demeanor and outstanding personality are contagious!
In addition to his work behind the scenes in WHIMA, he mentors and helps shape future HIM professionals by participating on the Capstone HIM professional panel at Western Technical College.
