Congratulations to Jennifer Mueller, MBA, RHIA, SHIMSS, FACHE, FAHIMA – WHIMA’s 2023 Professional Practice Mentor Award recipient!

Jennifer was recognized for this award at the WHIMA Annual Conference in Wisconsin Dells! This award aims to identify and honor outstanding organizations or individuals who support and mentor the upcoming generation of health information professionals. This individual or organization willingly serves as a role model and consistently provides meaningful opportunities for students to gain invaluable professional practice experience in the workplace.

Jennifer is no stranger to the health information profession. She is the current AHIMA Board of Director President/Chair and a member of WHIMA!

The words from a past mentee say it all about Jennifer!  “I was placed with Jennifer Mueller for my capstone project with the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) Information Center. I was familiar with her work, as she had been a guest speaker in two of my courses. Jennifer’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the data realm, my area of interest, came through in her presentations. Also evident was her keen understanding of the big picture of health information at the hospital, state, and national levels, which made the opportunity to work with her feel like a dream come true. What I did not anticipate was how genuinely kind, welcoming, personable, and supportive Jennifer would be. Being Vice President of WHAIC, while holding high-level positions in HIM professional associations and educational boards, makes for a busy schedule with big responsibilities! Yet for my internship, she devoted undivided time with me each week to ensure I was having a meaningful experience. During this time, I witnessed Jennifer’s passion for her work and her truly exceptional leadership skills. She mentors even when she is not trying; just by the way she interacts with people. She is a model of professionalism. If you can imagine being around someone who motivates you, sit up a little straighter, smile, and feel excited to strive for high-quality work, that is what being her intern is like.”

Jennifer has helped many advance their skills in healthcare data and information management, leadership, and management. She is an exceptional leader and mentor who genuinely strives to raise others up in this profession.

Jennifer, congratulations on this well-deserved award!
