This year, WHIMA introduced a new student outreach initiative: the WHIMA Experiential Learning Experience – “The Evolution of the Medical Record.” This project invited Health Information and Medical Coding students from across Wisconsin to create narrated presentations featuring original infographics highlighting the history and transformation of the medical record.
We received 17 impressive submissions from students at Chippewa Valley Technical College and Fox Valley Technical College. A panel of judges—including AHIMA leadership and WHIMA members—reviewed all presentations, providing students with valuable feedback aligned with CAHIIM performance indicators.
Judges also earned AHIMA continuing education units (CEUs) for their participation.
From these submissions, three finalists were selected and recognized at the WHIMA Annual Conference:

Stephanie Ovans, Fox Valley Technical College
Conference attendees then had the opportunity to vote for the winner by reviewing each finalist’s infographic at the WHIMA booth.
