WHIMA is proud to present the 2025 Spirit of WHIMA Award to Cherri Fields, RHIT, in recognition of her unwavering dedication and behind-the-scenes contributions that have played a vital role in the success of countless initiatives.
This award honors individuals who may not always lead from the front but whose commitment, reliability, and quiet leadership are essential to moving WHIMA’s mission forward. For over seven years, Cherri has served diligently on multiple teams, including the Policy, Advocacy, and Legislative (PAL) Team, where she also acted as the Board Liaison.
Her deep knowledge of health information, privacy compliance, and healthcare operations has proven invaluable in shaping WHIMA’s responses to proposed legislation and in educating government representatives about key HIM issues.
Cherri’s spirit of service shines across every project she touches—from Advocacy Day preparations and policy reviews to conference planning, speaker coordination, and even photo booth fun at the Annual Conference. Her work on the Pathfinder, VIP, and Nominating Committees, along with her leadership in the Annual Conference Team, demonstrates her incredible versatility and dedication.
Colleagues describe Cherri as the first to volunteer, always prepared, and willing to go above and beyond. Whether she’s contributing thoughtful feedback, offering creative solutions, or stepping out of her comfort zone to co-lead a team, Cherri brings positivity, passion, and reliability to every role.
