WHIMA Health IT and Analytics Workshop

As healthcare becomes more data-driven, organizations will seek health data analysts who understand how to interpret and provide value to data and analytics. In this Health IT and Analytics workshop, you will learn from experts working in healthcare analytics IT at Aspirus Health. You will learn what tools are used in data analytics, the skills an HIM professional needs to work in the field of data analytics, and the need for an information governance plan.
Who should attend?
HIM Managers, AHIMA Credentialed Professionals, and anyone with an interest in learning more about analytics in healthcare.

This educational event is provided through a partnership with Mid-State Technical College’s Health Information Management program and Aspirus Health in conjunction with The University of Wisconsin Health Information Management and Technology program. As a result of this partnership, the educational event has been approved for two (2) continuing education units for use in fulfilling the continuing education requirements of AHIMA as well as up to 1.5 continuing education (CE) hours for use in fulfilling the continuing education requirements of the Certified Professional in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CPHIMS) and the Certified Associate in Healthcare Information & Management Systems (CAHIMS) offered through the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM- Analytics in Healthcare
This session will provide an overview of Aspirus analytics environment/teams, tools used, skills looked for in a potential employee, and future data governance plans.
5:00 PM – 6:00 PM – The Role of an Analyst in Healthcare IT
Ashley Downing and Melissa Konicek
This session will focus on explaining the many facets of where analysts can be found in Healthcare IT. We will be walking through a day in the life scenario so that you can understand the job role and what accountabilities analysts have. We will also be taking a look at how someone can apply the skills they already possess into these roles and find the perfect career for them.
Adam Kettner has 17+ years of analytics IT experience with 12 years of healthcare analytics IT experience. His current roles at Aspirus are Application Lead – IT Analytics team, Data Warehouse Architect, ETL Administrator and Business Intelligence Developer.
Ashley Downing is an Application Lead within the Clinical Informatics department at Aspirus, Inc. where she has worked professionally for almost 11 years. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of St. Scholastica majoring in HIM with a CIS minor. Ashley has worked with EHRs for over 14 years and is excited to give attendees a glance into the Healthcare IT world that she lives in every day.
Melissa Konicek has been with Aspirus, Inc. for a little over 20 years. Melissa started with Aspirus in the therapy department as their Administrative Assistant. Over the years, Melissa grew with Aspirus, working her way up to Office Coordinator, then Rehab Services Technology Coordinator. She then was transitioned into the Information Technology Department in October, 2014 as an Application Analyst. Melissa was promoted to a Senior Application Analyst in July, 2016 and most recently promoted to Application Lead for the Ancillary Team and the EHR Technical Teams in January, 2018. Melissa had started her IT career back in 1995 where she was doing an IT internship for a large manufacturing company in Milwaukee, working in their Information Technology Department on their Help Desk. Melissa is also a Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems. Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, watching her boys grow and becoming young men, boating, camping, team building and having fun in general. Melissa is married, has 2 sons and 2 dogs.

Checks that do not reference the confirmation number will be returned to you and will not be applied to the registration.
