Congratulations to Julie Larsen, RHIA, CCS, CDIP – one of WHIMA’s 2023 Spirit of WHIMA Award recipients!
Julie was recognized for this award at the WHIMA Annual Conference in Wisconsin Dells! This award aims to identify and honor individuals who work behind the scenes to help coordinate, support or accomplish projects. Though these quiet individuals may not lead a work team, their hardworking efforts are key to a project’s success.
Julie Larsen is the true Spirit of WHIMA and the health information profession. She is an active member of WHIMA and co-leader of the WHIMA Engagement Team.
Julie is the Program Director & Instructor of Health Information Management & Medical Coding at Mid-State Technical College. She has repeatedly proven to her students and others that she is an advocate for her students and their successful future in the health information profession.
Julie’s dedication and enthusiasm go beyond the classroom! She is not afraid to say YES. She has jumped wholeheartedly into volunteering with WHIMA and engaging with other educators across the state in the WTCS and UW System. She is a frequent and well-received speaker at WHIMA-sponsored education events. Her energy and passion during presentations come through loud and clear for the audience! She has also organized a “Meet and Greet” breakfast for students at the WHIMA 2023 Annual Conference. Julie was and still is a key player in the creation and ongoing support of the LinkedIn Student Engagement Group for WHIMA, where students can connect and network.
Julie is a cheerleader for all – new students, graduates, HIM professionals both new and seasoned, and teammates on various committees!
Julie, Congratulations on this well-deserved award!
